Jose Luis was a champion boxer in his youth and he’s getting back into the sport in his 50s to combat health problems.

This video is a much different type of deadline video than I usually produce. The reporter for the print story, Amanda Reimherr (who also does the voiceover) approached me last week because the boxer had given her some video footage of his recent fight in California. Because of the format he provided, we couldn’t re-edit the piece with natural sound from the fight. I also couldn’t remove the interlacing. We still thought that the footage would add value to her story. So we added some music and I recorded a voiceover with Amanda. The whole thing took a total of an hour to produce, and I do think that it adds to the content of her story.
