Speaking at NAHJ regional conference

February 29th, 2008  |  Published in Training

I’m presenting a session the regional conference of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists on March 1 at Texas State University in San Marcos. Here is the agenda.

I will participate in a panel discussion on “moving your career ahead in multimedia.”

The Internet and related technologies continue to drastically change the way we communicate. Newspapers are adapting to trends of citizen journalism, blogging, and social networking, and journalists are incorporating multimedia skills into their tool kits. This session will address the current trends in multimedia and provide resources that will help you stay abreast of changes in the field. Panelists: Cindy Royal, assistant professor at Texas State University; Minerva Perez, Latino Talk TV; Angela Grant, San Antonio Express-News; Jorge Sanhueza-Lyon, Austin American-Statesman.

I will also lead a session introducing attendees to the world of online video.

Online newspaper video is beginning to emerge from a period of experimentation. This session will give you an idea of the types of video story forms that are emerging and it will stimulate you into thinking how you can use video for your web site. The session will also highlight online resources to learn video. Presented by Angela Grant, San Antonio Express-News.
