Viola B. Barrios, founder of Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant, was laid to rest Monday April 28. She was slain in a home invasion on April 24. People remember her as a woman of faith who helped those in need.

Wounded warrior memorial

Merlin German, who for three years survived being burned over 97 percent of his body in Iraq, died April 11 and was remembered by the Brooke Army Medical Center community in a memorial service.

Students at Woodlawn Hills Elementary gathered for a hot air balloon demonstration to reward 5th graders for outstanding TAKS test scores. But the windy weather kept the balloon grounded.

In the Barony of Bjornsborg, Medieval fighters can still claim a title and ladies still clamor after Rennaisance fashion. I enterprised this story idea and pitched it to an Express-News reporter who wrote a print story to accompany the video.
