Screams were a common sound during the pig scramble at the La Vernia Fire and Rescue 4th of July Picnic. Children screamed in exhilaration, and the pigs screamed in pure terror.

Gardeners at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens praised the rain because it may save them from watering for up to five days. Visitors to the gardens were also happy, even if they got wet.

Beer hits the pocketbook

Increased costs for hops and malt, and rising transportation costs, have caused the Blue Star Brewing Company to raise the price of beer by 50 cents.
