Tension hung in the air like an electric charge at the championship bout of the Alamo City Rollergirls. The Dragon Divas won the 2007 title when they beat The Missyfits 102 to 93. The action will resume again next spring.

In Week 3 of McCarney’s Minute, San Antonio Express-News sports writer Dan McCarney reviewed the games of three local high schools and looked forward to one upcoming game.

This is our paper’s first attempt at a produced TV-like online video series. It’s a weekly wrap-up of what happened in high school football. I’m hoping to make the production more professional with time.

The Prim Reapers had to forfeit the August roller derby bout to the Dragon Divas because too many Prims were injured. But the teams still played an exhibition bout with the help of four Missyfits players.

I developed the concept for Roller Derby Rundown, which includes monthly bout videos, photo slideshows, user-submitted photos, and a blog written by rollergirls. The package also includes an interactive “Meet the players” Flash presentation that I created.

The River Walk was packed five-people deep in some places with fans who cheered on the Spurs to celebrate the team’s fourth NBA Championships win.

Downtown San Antonio erupted in jubilation when the Spurs won their fourth NBA Championship. People chanted “Go Spurs Go,” while cars honked and traffic ground to a stop.
