Corpus Christi residents with special needs evacuated the city today on buses headed to San Antonio. They included the elderly, people in wheelchairs, and others with medical needs.

The remnants of Hurricane Dolly drenched San Antonio Thursday. The National Weather Service issued tornado and flash flood warnings for our area, and rain is expected throughout the afternoon.

Gardeners at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens praised the rain because it may save them from watering for up to five days. Visitors to the gardens were also happy, even if they got wet.

New Braunfels farmers Jackie Kraft and son David stand to lose their crop of grain sorghum because the nearly non-stop rain has soaked their fields, making it impossible to use their harvesting equipment. The seeds are beginning to germinate, which makes the crop useless to buyers.

The National Weather Service forecasts rain into the middle of next week. On July 19 the weather left people downtown scurrying to stay dry and it drove tourists away from the River Walk.
